Wipfel decided to find out back in the 1940's in Germany, and developed
a very unique breed known as the Eurasier. Originally intended for use
as a sled dog, the Eurasier is a hearty breed that does well in the
great outdoors, but is a very social dog that loves to be part of the
family. Eurasiers love children and family life, making them wonderful
indoor dogs and family companions. Wary of strangers, Eurasiers make
great watch dogs, although they are reserved rather than aggressive
about it. Grooming requirements for this breed are moderate; the soft,
luxurious, medium-length coat requires regular brushing, especially
during seasonal shedding. Colors range from blond to sable, red, grey
and black, and the breed can have a interesting blue-black tongue. Males
weigh up to 70 pounds and measure up to 23 inches, with females being
proportionately smaller. If you are looking for a great all-round family
dog, the Eurasier is an excellent choice! Clean, quiet, intelligent,
easy to train and very eager to please, this very well could be the
perfect dog if you have a good vacuum and don't mind a bit of dog hair.
A daily walk is required to keep the Eurasier happy and healthy.
